Therapy with Baycox in Chickens
Due to its wide spectrum of activity and unique mode of action (all important Eimeria species of poultry and all intracellular development stages), Baycox is highly efficacious and suitable for treatment of severe coccidiosis outbreaks caused by coccidia species. Even in cases where the birds have been already very sick, fast and full recovery was achieved with a Baycox treatment.
However, when treatment is applied late, after high morbidity and mortality are already present, secondary bacterial (and viral) infections often occur. These cannot be treated with a specific coccidiocide.
Early treatment (after confirmed diagnosis) and correct dosing of the drug (by calculating the flock weight and the total amount of active ingredient needed) ensure the best therapeutic success.
Baycox therapeutic intervention consists of a two-day treatment course at 7 mg/kg bw daily. The daily dose can be flexibly administered in drinking water during a period of 8 to 24 hours per day.
