How to Use Baycox® 2.5
Dosage
Treatment success depends on the correct amount of drug per bird.
As water consumption varies widely and is influenced by many factors, dosages must be calculated in relation to weight:
|
7 mg Toltrazuril / kg body weight for two consecutive days (7 mg / kg / day)
= 280 ml Baycox® / 1000 kg body weight for two consecutive days |
1. Adding Baycox directly to the water tank In accordance with the dosage recommendations, the required amount of Baycox is added to some liters of water (e.g., a bucket) and this is then emptied into the supply tank which has already been filled with the amount of water consumed by the flock in 24 hours. The next day, a new solution should be made. The reason for adding Baycox to the supply tank after it has been filled with water is to prevent excessive foam formation.
Baycox® 2.5% solution is quickly and easily dispersed in the drinking water by stirring. In areas with hard water, i.e., water with a high mineral content, a slight turbidity might occur. This is irrelevant to the solubility, provided the pH value of the water with the desired final concentration is not below 8.5.
In areas where the drinking water is extremely hard and has a low pH value (< 8.5), the pH can be adjusted to a minimum of 8.5 and a maximum of 11 by adding sodium carbonate (soda).
2. Application of Baycox via automatic dose dispensers When administering medicaments via automatic dose dispensers it is customary to prepare a pre-concentrate. In practise, the dilution rate varies between 1:5 and 1:15.
The pre-concentrate is stabilised by adjusting the pH value to at least 10.5.
Compatibility Baycox proved to be fully compatible with all conventional feed additives and feed medications.
