Clinical Signs in Turkeys

Coccidiosis in turkeys is a disease that does not cause a specific symptom, but include all of those signs related to enteric problems such as:

  • Pale birds
  • Huddling
  • Drop in feed and water consumption
  • Weight loss
  • Depression
  • Watery diarrhoea that may occasionally be blood-stained or contain clumps of mucus or shed mucosa
  • Tucked appearance, ruffled feathers
  • High morbidity
  • Mortality (may occurred on the 5th to 6th day post infection)

The signs and lesions of the infection depend on the species of coccidia causing the problem, its severity and the stage of the disease.
