Salmonellosis

Infection caused by bacteria belonging to the genus Salmonella. There are numerous types of Salmonella that can cause a variety of disorders in pigs. The classic salmonella of pigs are Salmonella choleraesuis and Salmonella typhimurium. Salmonella infections are not only important due to the disease caused to the pigs, but also because it is an important zoonotic disease.
